Cleaning Methods and Operating Procedures for Screw Compressor Radiators
Jun 27 , 2025

In daily use of compression equipment, the cleaning of the equipment is of particular concern, as its proper operation directly impacts production efficiency. Therefore, the removal of dirt on related components is especially critical. For general air compressor radiators, the accumulated grime not only comes from oil residues exacerbated by temperature changes during compression but also from environmental dust continuously adhering to the radiator. Regular cleaning of the radiator is an effective way to prevent overheating and a fundamental principle of basic air compressor maintenance.

We often use methods like gas back-blowing to remove loose particles on the radiator. However, this approach only works for light dust. For more stubborn dirt, professional cleaning solvents and methods are required.

When cleaning the radiator of a screw air compressor, the required materials mainly include cleaning agents, PTFE tape, sealant, etc. The specific cleaning steps are as follows:

1. Shut down the compressor and wait for all the lubricating oil in the radiator to flow back into the oil-gas tank.

2. Block the oil ports with clean cloth to prevent debris from entering the oil passages during cleaning.

3. Disconnect the oil and air pipes from the radiator and soak them in clean water with detergent for thorough cleaning.

4. Dilute cleaning agent to remove dust, oil, and impurities from the radiator surface, then rinse it with a high-pressure water gun. Finally, blow dry the surface with clean, dry compressed air.

5. Reinstall the radiator onto the screw air compressor and conduct a test run. If the compressor operates normally without oil or air leaks, the installation is successful, marking the completion of the entire cleaning process.
