Under what circumstances should an emergency shutdown be performed?
If any of the following situations occur, the air compressor should be shut down immediately by pressing the emergency stop button. The cause must be identified and the issue resolved before restarting.
1. The current or exhaust pressure gauge suddenly exceeds the specified value.
2. For water-cooled air compressors, if the cooling water supply is suddenly interrupted.
3. If the temperature of the water or oil in any part of the compressor exceeds the allowable limit, or if the automatic control system fails.
4. If the air compressor emits abnormal noises, such as metal collisions, loose connections, or damage to components like cylinders, cylinder heads, or screws.
5. If the lubricating oil pressure drops or the supply is suddenly cut off.
6. If there is a severe gas leak during the air compressor's operation.
7. If the motor exhibits strong vibrations or emits a burning smell.
8. In case of sudden severe weather, flooding in the compressor room, or other surrounding emergencies.
How to perform an emergency shutdown?
During an emergency shutdown, there is no need to unload first. Press the "Emergency Stop" button directly.
After shutdown, release any remaining gas in the system to reduce the pressure to zero. Some time after shutdown, drain the condensed water from the oil-gas barrel, oil cooler, and after-cooler. In cold winter conditions, take measures to prevent freezing and cracking, as well as corrosion.
Emergency shutdown record and inspection:
After an emergency shutdown, it is recommended to document the cause of the shutdown for maintenance and inspection purposes. The record should include:
1. The time and type of shutdown.
2. A preliminary assessment of the losses caused by the emergency shutdown.
3. A preliminary judgment of the cause of the emergency shutdown incident.
4. Any need for assistance from relevant departments for rescue or emergency repairs.
5. The time required for recovery or repairs.
How to reset the air compressor after an emergency shutdown?
1. If the emergency stop button was pressed, turn it clockwise to see if it pops back out. If not, replace the emergency stop switch.
2. If the air compressor has been idle for a long time and the reset does not work upon restart, it can be preliminarily judged that the emergency stop switch is faulty or there is poor contact in the emergency stop control circuit. Replace or repair the emergency stop switch.
